I'm So Much Older At Night

March 25, 2019

I’ve been up since 4:00 a.m. It’s so darn early, and still dark! I’m trying to maintain as much of my exercise and yoga routine as I can. . . but I need as many daylight hours as possible to work on our house renovations.

During the day, I’m wall-to-wall busy with house stuff, so I’m working at night on my computer (tedious) and my art (fun). It’s quiet now and I can concentrate. But I’m a morning person. Working at night is tough for me.

Concentration? It’s hard to maintain focus doing boring computer work when I’m pretty wiped out from doing physical work all day, plus making so many design decisions, and choosing materials, fixtures, etc. If I sit at my computer too long without moving, my knees, hips, and back get stiff. I should be horizontal in bed, relaxing and rejuvenating in a deep sleep already.

Talking about focus…my poor tired eyes are stinging and bleary-eyed. I’m not happy to realize that it’s harder than it used to be to do my pen and ink drawings with overhead lights and desk lamps instead of natural daylight.

I’m so much older at night!
